My name is Pastor Tim Chiarot (pronounced––share it). I want to take a moment to thank you for visiting our new website and to welcome you not only to the site, but hopefully to our church family as well. Unionville Presbyterian Church has a long history, and when I say long, I mean really long. Founded in 1803, our church has sat atop of the hill on Main St. in Unionville N.Y. shedding the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ for over 200 years. Though we have a long history, we have recently undergone many changes, including a new denomination and a new pastor––me.
We now belong to the Presbyterian Church in America or PCA. In short, this means that we are a Reformed, Evangelical body of believers. We hold the bible to be the inerrant, infallible Word of God. We trust only in the atoning work of Jesus Christ for our salvation, and we ascribe to the doctrines of sovereign grace. For more information about the PCA, please visit their website at www.pcanet.org.
For those of you who may be interested in my background, I am a 40 something ex-rocker, whose life was radically altered by sovereign grace. God began his work in me in eternity past, but I became aware of it at 15 years old. Though I was a professing believer, I continued to struggle. It wasn’t until my thirties that God gave me a sense of call to serve Him. He also gave me the most awesome, stabilizing person in my beautiful wife Julie, who I’ve now been married to for nine years. We have two beautiful children: Luke and Grace.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in Religion from Liberty University, a Masters of Divinity from Alliance Theological Seminary, and am currently working on a second Masters from Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. In addition to my labors here at Unionville church, I hope to engage in future doctoral work and pursue writing. My interests include music, movies, reading, and an occasional poor display of my sub-par golf skills (pun intended).
You might be wondering how we ended up at Unionville Church? Well, we began our relationship with Unionville about five years ago. I was given the privilege of filling the pulpit for them for a short interim period of about four months. They immediately struck us as warm and familial and have always held a special place in our hearts. When they felt it necessary to switch denominations, I was again privileged to be a part of the process. Upon completion of that process, I was honored to accept the role of pastor here at Unionville church.
It is my hope that you will come and join us in the worship of our triune God. I am certain that you will also experience the same warmth and sense of family that we did and will continue to worship with us as a result.
I look forward to meeting you. Please refer to our schedule for service times and upcoming events.
With Warmest Regards in His Grip,
Pastor Tim Chiarot
